Theatre and Dance

Learning to shine

Drama is offered within the academic programme at all stages of our school and pupils can choose to study Drama at IGCSE level.

Throughout their time at the school, pupils frequently perform on stage in both English and Spanish. We have annual class and Key Stage plays and pupils can choose to be involved in further extra-curricular musicals and concerts.

How Does Theatre Benefit Our Pupils?

Theatre performance stimulates imagination and helps explore different situations and experiences. Through taking part in these activities, we see our students grow in self-confidence, self-esteem, ability and enthusiasm. Students also develop team working, creativity, leadership and risk-taking skills.

Recent productions include:

  • Blood Wedding
  • Peter Pan
  • The Musicians of Bremen
  • Twelfth Night
  • Cinderella Rockefeller Pantomime.

Expressing Feelings and Ideas Through Movement

Dance is offered within the academic programme at all stages of our school and pupils can choose to study Dance at IGCSE level.

How does dance benefit our pupils?

Early years pupils are introduced to dance with movement activities to spark motor skills development. Movement is also used to stimulate creativity by using the body to respond to music. In Primary and some stages of Secondary, dance is part of the Physical Education curriculum and stimulates students' abilities, skills and senses.

Dancing For Fun

Dance is also one of our most popular extracurricular activities; more than 150 students between ages 3 and 18 dedicate part of their free time each week to practice the following dance forms:

  • Spanish Dance: Flamenco and other local dance styles that are full of passion and fill our school with life
  • Classical Ballet: traditional, formal and technical.

Our Ballet students perform in a spectacular annual show, which is one of our most popular events of the year. They also take the official exams of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), which increases their confidence and provides targets to aim for.
